Brenda Sue Parker, 67, of Warren passed away unexpectedly on June 15, 2026 at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital.
Brenda was born on February 17, 1959 in Traverse City; the beloved daughter of Keith Edward and Margaret Ellen (Bernhardt) Parker.
Brenda graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1977 and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Central Michigan University. She received her Master’s Degree from Wayne State. Brenda ran track and cross country in both high school and at CMU. She played violin in the high school orchestra and spent numerous summers at Interlochen Arts Academy.
Brenda taught at several Michigan schools as well as at Job Corps before continuing her teaching career at Hamtramck Schools for 26 years. She was a lifelong learner and had taken evening classes at Detroit Bible Institute for more than eight years. Brenda was a member of Bethesda Christian Church in Sterling Heights and also attended St. John’s Tabernacle in Warren where she was involved with Kingdom Women. Brenda was a gifted musician, playing in her church, and giving violin lessons. She played violin for the Troy Metro Symphony Orchestra for the last three years.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and brother David.
She is survived by her siblings Phyllis (Morrie) Walworth, Wesley Parker, Carol Sears and Tim (Christine) Parker; nine nieces and nephews; 19 great nieces and nephews, and many other extended family members and friends. Along with family and friends, she will be dearly missed by her cat Abner who brought her much joy after Bitsy and Inky passed away.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 12 noon at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11 am. A light lunch will be served followed by Interment at Solon Township Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bethesda Christian Church in Sterling Heights on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 1:00 pm.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Bethesda Christian Church, Sterling Heights, MI or to Hamtramck High School, Hamtramck, MI.
