TRAVERSE CITY — Brian "Beej" James Grewe, 30, formerly of Traverse City, passed away on March 26, 2011, in Chicago. Brian was born Jan. 12, 1981, in Gaylord, to David and MaryKay Grewe.Brian graduated form Glen Lake High School in 1999. After high school he attended Central Michigan University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. He currently was working in Chicago for Belvedere Trading. Brian will be remembered for his quick wit, thoughtfulness, loyalty to his friends and family and his seemingly endless supply of knowledge. He had an insatiable appetite for reading (anything and everything) and insufferable debating skills. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Summers spent on Glen Lake with the "Brothers Four" were some of his most cherished times. When not on the boat, you could find him on the golf course. He delighted everyone with his storytelling and his sense of humor. He was well-loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.Surviving Brian are his parents, David and MaryKay; siblings, Marcus and Mollie; grandfather, Gary Brown; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Beatrice Grewe; grandmother, MaryAnn Brown; uncle, Tom Heyse; and cousins, Amy Sue Otteman and Scott Heyse. Visitation will be held today, March 30, 2011, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Central United Methodist Church. Pastor Dale Ostema will officiate.
