Bruno Tassone

January 27, 1925 — October 21, 2017

Bruno Tassone, 92, of Traverse City, passed away on October 21, 2017. He was born on January 27, 1925, in Simbario, Italy, to his parents, the late Antonio and Catherine (Bertucci) Tassone. They moved to the United States in 1928 when he was 3 and settled in Detroit. Bruno enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his Country in WWII as a Torpedo man 1st Class aboard the USS McCook navel destroyer. After his military service, he attended Lawrence Tech where he earned a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering.
Bruno married Gloria Komodowski in 1949 in Detroit. The couple was married for 60 years until her death in 2009. Together they raised their two sons.
Bruno worked at Ford Motor Company, GM and Chrysler as an automotive engineer until retiring from Ford's in 1983. The couple then relocated to Traverse City.
He will be remembered as a loving husband and devoted father who provided for his family. Bruno utilized his engineering skills to build his first house downstate on Wolverine Lake by hand and was always working on a project at his home in Traverse City. He took great pride in the fact that both of his sons both chose to attend and graduate from the University of Notre Dame. He and Gloria enjoyed traveling and frequently visited family in Oklahoma, Florida and Wisconsin. One memorable trip overseas was returning to Italy for a tour and getting to spend time with relatives in his birthplace.
Bruno is survived by his sons, Christopher (Gayle) Tassone of Traverse City, Jeffrey (Krin) Tassone of Tulsa, OK.; sister, Theresa (Bill) Forbes of Warren Mi; brother, Salvatore (Joan) Tassone of Bonita Springs, FL.
Bruno was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife Gloria (2009); sisters, Rose Geringer and Mary Buerkle.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Dogwood residence of the Grand Traverse Pavilions for the love and care they provided for Bruno.
