GLEN ARBOR – Bryan Borchardt, age 54, of Glen Arbor, died Sunday, October 1st, 2017 at his home in the loving care of his family.
Bryan died Sunday evening about 7:10 just as the sun was setting. We had spent the day Saturday watching movies, playing with puppies and sorting through dog paraphernalia. Once he worked through the difficult phase of his transition and we balanced his medication, he eased back against my chest where he remained relaxed and calm with dogs and friends snuggled close for the next two to three hours until he died. It was beautiful to the point of being sublime.
Many times over the course of our 27 years together I've awakened without him next to me while one or the other was traveling. But waking this morning to the realization that I would never again enjoy that pleasure has - thus far - been the hardest part. My pain, is tempered by the knowledge that Bryan no longer has any, and that we both did our absolute best.
You all made that possible.
We have set November 11, 2017 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. for a celebration of Bryan's life at the Glen Arbor Township Hall. Your "admission ticket" will be a plate of your favorite hors d'oeuvre and a favorite memory, story, or photo that you can leave with me. Please join us if you can.
My love and gratitude is yours.
