TRAVERSE CITY — C. Linn Cowsert II, went home to be with his father, God, his brother, Jesus, and many other friends and family members on Monday, March 5, 2012, while in the arms of his wife of 42 years, Lynn.Linn, as he was known to family and friends, was born March 27, 1947, in Pontiac, to his late parents, Charles Linn and Edith Lillian (Hart) Cowsert. He grew up and went to school in Royal Oak before honorably serving our country in the U.S. Army, including a tour in Vietnam. He met and married Lynn Elizabeth Bigger soon after his return home, and they moved to Traverse City when he graduated from Walsh College. Linn returned to the Detroit area and enjoyed a 35-year career in finance at Chrysler Motor Corporation. He commuted home to Traverse City every weekend for most of his career, making it his full time residence in 2009.Linn enjoyed go-karts, cars, motorcycling, cross country skiing and snowshoeing during his earlier years then competed in yacht racing (Misty Lochs and the Grand Traverse Yacht Club) and mountain biking, finishing three Iceman Challenges. His passion for the outdoors was never more evident than when he was talking about his favorite place on earth, the North Shore of Lake Superior.Linn was preceded in death by his faithful companion, Dagwood. He is survived by his wife, Lynn; his mother, Marilyn Bigger; brothers and sisters, Alexander Bigger III (Linda), Gloria McIntyre (Duane), John Bigger (Diana), Genevieve Hoyt, Lyal Bigger (Riva), Dale Bigger (Jenny), and Audra Bigger. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their children; cousins; special friends, Sue Kelly, Jim and Kathy Horal; and a huge number of friends from the Deerpath North neighborhood and his Chrysler family.Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today, March 8, 2012, with a funeral/memorial service being celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 9, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
