Obituary

Cameron David Paulson, 60, of Traverse City, Michigan passed away on January 8, 2025, of complications due to heart issues.

Born in Kalamazoo, MI and raised in Holland, MI, Cam attended Holland High School, where he lettered in football and track. A founding member of Tau Kappa Epsilon, he graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1987 and earned his MBA from the University of Southern California in 2008.

After college, he moved to California, where he resided until March 2024, when he moved to his beloved Spider Lake in northern Michigan. Cam married Susanne (Stamey) in 2000 and had two children, Zachery and Amelia, who were his pride and joy. A deeply devoted dad, Cam coached soccer, basketball, and flag football and attended every game, recital, performance, and school activity.

He worked in sales in several different arenas, particularly the automotive aftermarket industry, where he developed many lifelong friendships, and the utilities industry, where he became a well-respected expert.

Being a lifelong sports enthusiast and following a dream, Cam learned to skate and play hockey in his late 40s and played on numerous hockey teams. He was a wholehearted fan of Michigan sports, especially University of Michigan football, where he had season tickets, and the Detroit Red Wings. He loved swimming, canoeing, fishing, and anything to do with being on the water. Cam's warm nature and laugh made everyone feel welcome and loved. He was known for giving the best "I am glad to see you" hugs and for his ability to turn strangers into friends. He was a loyal friend who would do anything for you.

Cam is survived by his spouse, Susanne (Stamey), and his children, Zachery and Amelia; his sister Kimberley (Keiser), nephew Kyle (Alexandria) Cortes, and niece Lauren Keiser; Uncle Tom (Rita) Fox; Aunt Molly (Paulson) Schrader; several cousins, and many friends whom he treasured. Cam was preceded in death by his parents Barbara Jean (Fox) Paulson and David Earle Paulson.

On February 8, 2025, a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Haworth Hotel, 225 College Avenue, and a celebration of life at 3:00 p.m. at Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant, 216 Van Raalte Avenue, in Holland, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to nami.org (National Alliance for Mental Illness) or polarisproject.org (nonprofit organization for survivors of human trafficking), causes that were close to Cam's heart.
