Candice "Candy" Leigh Golden, 66, formerly of Petoskey, died Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Munson Medical Center. Candy was born in Traverse City on June 28, 1951 to her parents the late Willard Max and Barbara Jean (Blanchard) Golden.
She graduated from St. Francis High School in 1969 and attended Ferris State University. Candy was a part of the family shoe business, Golden Shoes, for more than 35 years, with many of those years spent at the Petoskey location. She enjoyed skiing and once took a three-week trip to Austria in the 1970's to ski with the Austrian instructors who taught ski school at the Grand Traverse Ski Club for many years. Candy always enjoyed her summer get-togethers with the "Torch Lake Girls."
Candy is survived by her siblings; brothers, Craig (Jenny) Golden, Jocko (Michael) (Karen) Golden, Mark Golden, William (Amy) Golden; sisters, Elizabeth (Pat Greenwood) Golden, Barbara (Dave) Rickard; nieces and nephews; Mallory Golden, Melissa (Rich) Martin, McKenzie and Max Golden, Lauren Golden, Kalie, Cameron and Keaghan Rickard; great nephews, Matthew and Christopher Martin.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Barbara (Blanchard) Golden, May 20, 2007; father, Willard Golden, June 18, 2012.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with visitation held one hour prior. Reverend Ken Stachnik will officiate. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service.
