Carl Carpenter of Traverse City, MI, age 86, died Thursday, November 10, 2022. Carl was born on March 30, 1936, to Adolf and Dora (Bode) Carpenter.

Carl was born in Traverse City and graduated in 1954 from Traverse City High School.

Carl married Rita A. Buchan in August of 1955 and together they raised seven children. Carl raced motorcycles in the 1960s. His children have fond memories of those summer weekends at the dirt tracks. He loved fishing with his favorite fishing partner, Rita— they fished together many years of their retirement, and even won Crappie tournament in Florida.

Carl is survived by his seven children, Gene and Carrie (Bail) Carpenter, Jim and Janet (Kolarik) Carpenter, Jerry and Sue (Rickard) Carpenter, Pat Crain, Al Carpenter, Cathi and Kris Wakeman, and Julie and Mike Payne; eleven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, one sister; and his wife Rita.

Relatives and friends may call on the family during a memorial visitation held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, MI 49684.
