Carol A. LaCross, a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and child of God, was born into eternal life on October 1, 2022. She was 87.
Carol was born on July 20, 1935 in Flint to the late Harry W. and Iva Vanetta (Beecher) Miller. Carol's mother was a direct descendant of Harriet Beecher Stowe.
On August 1, 1953, Carol married Donald C. LaCross. Together they shared 56 wonderful years before he passed in 2009.
Don and Carol were distributors for Watkins products for many years. Carol also worked for TCAPS and retired in 1995. Throughout her retirement and up until spring on 2022, she was active in the Grand Traverse Retired School Personnel Association. One of her favorite titles was Den Mother for her son's cub scout dens. She was also an active member at St. Francis Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society.
In her free time she enjoyed water aerobics, canning, crocheting and reading.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Don; sisters Harriet Christianson and Jane Opheim and brother Jay Miller.
Carol is survived by her sons Steven (Lisa Eagle), Thomas (Michele), and Daniel; grandchildren Keri (Greg) Bancroft and their daughter Carley; Kristopher (Maggie) LaCross and daughters Emma and Eva; Kati (Brandon) Simmons and their children Zaydrian and Lucy; Andrew LaCross; Melaina LaCross; Tyler and his daughter Chloe; Dillon and his son Theodore; and Elizabeth LaCross.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The rosary will be prayed at 7 pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 3:00 pm with visitation beginning at 2:30 at St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
