Carol Christie Lemmen

Carol Christie Lemmen, age 66 of Traverse City passed away in the presence of family on the evening of Sunday April 13, at Munson Medical Center.
Carol was recently retired from Child and Family Services of Northwest Michigan after a long and varied social work career. She will be remembered by family and friends as someone who was always willing to lend an ear, offer advice and share in the laughter of a good story or cherished memory. A graduate of Houghton High School carol received her BA from Western Michigan University and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan. Carol called Traverse City her home for more than 25 years.
After an early lifetime spent battling the effects of diabetes, Carol was the grateful beneficiary of a kidney and pancreas which significantly added to the lives around her.
She was preceeded in death by her mother Lottie Christie of Traverse City, her father Orville Christie of Kinchloe, MI., infant son Jon Paul Petrow and nephew Tobin Johnston of Interlochen. She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years David Lemmen of Traverse City, Daughter Christy (John) Olson and granddaughter Miranda all of Minneapolis, brother Frank(Pat) Christie of Onekama,sister Donelda (Bruce) Holland-Moritz of Traverse City, brother Bruce (Peggy) Christie of Brooksville, Florida, stepson Scott (Debbie) Lemmen of Interlochen, stepdaughter Cara Lemmen of Grand Rapids, step grandchildrenTristan Wagner, Issac, Ethan and Sofia Lemmen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials in Carol's name be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Great Lakes West Chapter,

The family also would like to ask you to please consider organ and tissue donation as Carol was a perfect example of how it can help a family and now she is doing the same to help someone in need.
As per Carol's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday April 17, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
