Carol "Scotty" Ann Wojcik

September 9, 1940 — May 30, 2026

Carol “Scotty” Ann Wojcik, 85, of Evart, passed away on May 30, 2026, at Munson Medical Center with her loving family at her side.

Scotty was born on September 9, 1940, in Cambridge, Ohio, to the late Richard and Norma (Martin) Scott. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Saginaw, Michigan, where she later graduated from Saginaw High School. She went on to attend Central Michigan University, where she earned her Master’s and Specialist degrees in Education.

Scotty dedicated many years to teaching as a physical education instructor and was deeply involved in community recreation her whole life. Being athletic, she knew physical education and keeping kids moving was very important. She served as the community recreation director in the summer months for the Bridgeport School system.

Later in life, she pursued a second career in law enforcement, attending the police academy and proudly serving as a deputy sheriff for the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department for many years. Her passion was helping young people who were heading down difficult paths, students she once saw in school, believing she could make a meaningful difference in their lives. Law enforcement was close to her heart, as her former husband and other family members served, and her son Scott continues that legacy as a member of the Michigan State Police.

Scotty also served as a firefighter for a time and taught first aid in her community up until just a few years ago. She was always committed to helping others.

Eventually, Scotty met Robert “Bob” Gary Raggo. Scotty and Bob shared over 30 wonderful years together. They enjoyed wintering at their second home in the Daytona/Port Orange area in Florida and spending summers along the Muskegon River.

Scotty was instrumental in hosting an annual tubing event on the river, a beloved week-long celebration filled with hayrides, laughter, and lasting memories. It remains a cherished tradition that many look forward to each year a ths is will be the 53rd year.

Always active and full of energy, Scotty was truly one of a kind. She was fearless, confident, and never met a stranger. Known for her spirited personality, she was also famously known as the “best backseat driver,” always ready to share her thoughts. Up until last summer, she remained active working at Birch Valley Golf Course.

In her younger years, Scotty was an avid skier, both alpine downhill and water skiing, and enjoyed snowmobiling. She loved playing softball and later found great joy in golfing, always bringing her competitive spirit to the game.

Her faith was an important part of her life. Raised Methodist, she later became a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth, where she was confirmed, following in the same faith journey as her son.

Scotty is survived by her son, Scott McManus; her grandchildren, Jacob and Kaela; her devoted companion, Robert “Bob” Gary Raggo; her sister, Linda (Robert) Gorman; and many loving cousins, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Susan Dorchak and her daughter-in-law Kate McManus

A memorial gathering for Scotty will be held on June 20, 2026 from 1-5pm at the Evart Moose Club with lunch provided.  The annual tubing celebration will continue this year in honor and remembrance of Scotty.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew her.

Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
