Carol A. Zaremba


Traverse City – Carol A. Zaremba, 69, of Traverse City, Michigan and The Villages, Florida; passed away Friday, June 12, 2015, surrounded by her loving family in Gainesville, FL.

Carol was born on August 3, 1945, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late Loren and Norma (Raymond) Martin. She married the love of her life, Stanley John Zaremba on February 19, 1966, in Traverse City, celebrating 49 years. Together they raised two children, Karen and John.

After graduating from Traverse City Central High School, Carol pursued a degree in nursing from Hackley School of Nursing, Muskegon, MI. She was employed by private practice doctor's offices before she began raising her family. Volunteering led to a second career as a secretary in the attendance department for TCAPS and office manager of the counseling department for Northwestern Michigan College. Carol was president of the board at Peninsula Township Library and Historian for the IAAP.

Traveling with her husband was one of her most treasured times. Frequent trips to Hawaii were enjoyed by whale watching and walking along the beaches hand in hand. Summers were spent boating on the waters of Grand Traverse Bay and hunting for Petoskey stones. It was important for Carol to read her daily devotionals and she was a member of the First Congregational Church. Many hours sewing, cross stitching, quilting and gardening were additional hobbies.

Surviving Carol is her husband, Stanley, son, John (Denise) Zaremba, daughter, Karen (John) D'Lamater, grandchildren, Lindsey and Mason, great-grandson, Brantley.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015, beginning at 10 a.m. with a memorial service at 11a.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Dr. Gary Hogue. Interment will be at the Memorial Gardens cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
