Carole Adeline Donaldson, 94, of Traverse City, Michigan passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at her home. Carole was born on October 4, 1931, in Mount Clemens, Michigan to the late Frank and Leona (Brockman) Horning. She married the love of her life, Ralph Donaldson in 1952. He preceded her in death in 2004.
Carole was a gifted artist, wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed sailing and traveling the world. She believed Traverse City to be the best of all places. Carole was a wonderful gardener and had a passion for nature. She had a creative spirit and always looked at the world imaginatively. She baked the best pies, enjoyed talking with people and loved to research her family's history. Our family is so grateful to have had her in our lives.
Carole is survived by two daughters and two sons; Tammis Donaldson, Brian (Diane) Donaldson, Todd (Denise) Donaldson and Holly Donaldson. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Kristin, Karla, Kate (Aaron), Casey (Fabrice), Colby, Baily, Austin, Nolan and Tyler as well as three great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Carole's life will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at The Botanic Garden and Historic Barns Park Visitor Center. A light meal will be provided after the service. Chaplain Kathryn Christian will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carole's name to; The Father Fred Foundation, Sweetwater Evening Garden Club of Acme, the Grand Traverse Land Conservancy or the Leelanau County Land Conservancy.
