TRAVERSE CITY — Carolyn R. Alberts, 64, of Traverse City, formerly of Williamsburg, died unexpectedly Saturday, June 26, 2010, at her home. Born Sept. 15, 1945, in South Bend, Ind., she was the daughter of James E. and Ann (Reed) McCain. Carolyn will be fondly remembered as a hairdresser who worked as a stylist at Milliken's and Hairwaves West before co-owning KC Designer's. After the sale of the business, she served many clients at Fantastic Sams.She was a very outgoing person who thoroughly enjoyed the company of others. Carolyn enjoyed listening to country music, cooking, sewing, avid morel mushroom hunting, bargain shopping, following "her team," the Detroit Tigers, and her trips to the casino.She is survived by her children, Robert (Joanna) Chrystler of Whispering Pines, N.C., Daniel (Billie) Chrystler of Kalkaska and Kelley Whittington of Holland; three grandchildren; her mother, Ann Low of Niles; three brothers, Vern (Peg) McCain of South Bend, Ind., Jim McCain of Niles and Kenneth (Patty) McCain of Edwardsburg; and a half-brother, Robert (Olga) McCain of Chicago. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father and her husband, William H. "Bill" Alberts, who died on Nov. 23, 1998. Friends may visit with the family at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Thursday, July 1, 2010, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Friday, July, 2, 2010, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Jeff Goodwin officiating.
