Carolyn Elaine Brunelle, 65 of Ann Arbor passed away July 9, 2021 at Munson Medical Center after a brief battle with pneumonia. Her family was by her side.
Carolyn was born on November 9, 1955 in Detroit to the late Harry and Rose (Bugajski) Gorski. She was the middle child of six children and in a way that only she could affirm, was the most well adjusted!
In 1994, Carolyn married the love of her life, Richard "Rick" William Brunelle on the side of a ski hill in Lake Tahoe. The two had known each other since they were in grade school and Rick treasured Carolyn with all his heart.
Carolyn was a respiratory therapist for 40 years. She worked at Garden City Hospital and later at St. Mary's with Dr. Yousef and retired in 2017.
Carolyn will be remembered as a small, but mighty and sometimes feisty lady. She was strong willed and funny all at the same time. She saw beauty in the little details and treasured her moments with nature. She was an animal lover and will be greatly missed by her pitriever Lola and her cat Garf, along with all the fish she fed at Rick and Carolyn's cottage on Steven's Lake. They loved vacationing up north and had been coming up for the past 27 years.
Carolyn enjoyed traveling, reading mystery and suspense novels and spending time in her garden. She also liked to drink wine and she loved to feed people. She was known as the food lady, even though she herself never ate much. She will be greatly missed by her many family and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and brother John Gorski.
Carolyn is survived by her dear husband Rick; son Brandon (Michelle) Bohland; grandchildren Madison and Zachary; and her sisters Christine (Michael) Rubner, Cynthia (David) Hilger and Susan (Curtis) Hill and Rosemary (Ted) Maury.
The family will be hosting a party at Rick and Carolyn's home in her back yard in Ann Arbor, which was one of her favorite places to be. It will be held on July 24, 2021 at 2 pm at 6695 Wild Meadow Circle, Ann Arbor.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Huron Valley Humane Society, Freedom Builders or the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy.
Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home is honored to care for Carolyn and her family.
