Carolyn R. LaCross, 83, of Traverse City passed away Friday, November 10, 2017 at Joy Givers Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.
Carolyn was born Friday, September 21, 1934 to Burton and Lillian (Frye) Ames in Royal Oak, MI.
Carolyn worked as a secretary at Cone Drive for 29 years, retiring in October 1996. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and was a longtime member of the church choir. Carolyn enjoyed playing the piano, ice skating, word searches and puzzles. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Jody (Razz) LaCross of Kingsley; son Jeffrey (Lisa) LaCross of Traverse City; brothers William 'Skip' Ames of Sterling Heights and Charles (Vicky) Ames of Port Huron; son-in-law J. Greg Porritt; sister-in-law Kathy Ames; grandchildren Nathan, Lindsey, Nicholas, Logan, Alex, Jennifer, Karrigan, Katie, Renee and Rachel; and great grandchildren Madison and Rhett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Patricia 'Joy' Porritt; sister-in-law Sara Ames; and brothers Edward Ames and James Ames.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Fr. Ken Stachnik will officiate.
Those wishing an expression of sympathy may direct contributions to Joy Givers Senior Home, 7438 North Long Lake Road, Traverse City, MI 49685.
