Traverse City - Carolyn Louise McKee, 89, of Dearborn, passed away on March 23, 2016. Carolyn was born on January 22, 1927 in Highland Park to the late Keyes and Charlotte (Ruoff) Glaze.
In high school she was an exceptional athlete on the diving team and the cheerleading squad. She was a standout at all sports she played and continued on being athletic in biking, golf, hiking and cross country skiing.
She married Warren David McKee in Detroit on January 28, 1950 and the couple raised their two sons together in Dearborn.
Carolyn worked at Fannie Farmer Candy Co. and Burroughs Adding Machine Company before becoming a talented stay at home mom. The boys fondly remember trips to many Michigan parks, Cedar Point and the annual color tours, loading up the car and driving throughout the Upper Peninsula in search of the best fall colors.
Frog legs were considered a delicacy in Carolyn's eyes and she would travel distances to find the best, always enjoying the company of her family. Family gatherings for Christmas and other special occasions will always be remembered fondly by family and friends.
Although Carolyn was a very independent woman, she would steal your heart with her spontaneous humor, love, affection and time she was always willing to give.
She is survived by two sons; Chris (Carole) McKee of Traverse City and Craig McKee of Sun City, AZ. Carolyn is also survived by her one grandchild, Kyle whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Warren,and sister Shirley.
Per Carolyn's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held for family and friends at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on April 9, 2016 at 2:00pm with a gathering for family and friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Pastor Jared Yaple from Watershed Church will be the officiant.
