TRAVERSE CITY – Carolyn "Tiny" Lee Roesner, age 89, of Traverse City, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020 at Cherry Hill Haven of Kalkaska.
Carolyn was born in Detroit on November 13, 1930, to Ivor and Esther (Philipp) Lee. She grew up in Royal Oak. Tiny attended college at Bay Path University in Massachusetts.
Tiny worked as a secretary at the television station WJBK, in Detroit.
In 1956, she married Charles VanNorwick, together they had two daughters, Amy and Janie.
In the 1960's and early 70's, Tiny and her family spent many wonderful summers and weekends at their beloved cottage on Glen Lake. Because of their great love for northern Michigan, the family made their dream come true by moving to Traverse City from Bloomfield Hills in 1973.
During the mid to late 70's, Tiny and Chuck owned and operated Van Norwick's, a clothing/fine goods store that was located in Traverse City.
Tiny had immense love for animals, especially dogs. She owned many dogs during her lifetime. Tiny was an avid bridge player and was in a bridge club for many years. She had a great appreciation for anyone with a good sense of humor and had an infectious laugh.
Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Amy (Ronald) Christy of South Haven, Jane James of Spring Lake; grandchildren, Aaron Bischoff of Paw Paw, Alexander Hyde of Spring Lake and Ellen Hyde of Traverse City; and sister, Nancy Crisler of Bloomfield Hills.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Barbara Rarey.
