Carolyn B. Safina, 84 of Traverse City passed peacefully Saturday, November 25, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Carolyn was born in Brooklyn on September 10, 1939, married her husband Paul in 1960, and together they raised their family in Brooklyn and on Long Island, NY. She started her secretarial career at Rockefeller Center Inc. in NYC and eventually worked with Paul in several NY City schools throughout their careers. They retired to Traverse City in 2000. Carolyn enjoyed boating, gardening, crocheting, and craft making. She had a special place in her heart for animals, particularly dogs and birds, but most importantly she loved her family and enjoyed reminiscing of the many joyful times she had with them. She was especially fond of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a creative woman who shared her talents with others. Over the last twenty years, Carolyn made and donated countless hats and blankets for the newborns at Munson Medical Center. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Francis Catholic Church. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, Paul, of 63 years, their four children, Michael, Carmela, Angela, and Christopher, their spouses, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and her brother Joe and sister Grace.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 4 to 6 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The family will pray the Rosary at 6 pm, followed by a time of sharing. For those unable to attend, please visit www.rjfh.tv to join the family in the rosary.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 12:30 pm at St. Francis Catholic Church with visitation beginning one hour prior. Please visit www.sfparish.org to watch the service online. Graveside services will follow at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
