Carrie Elizabeth Parker, 93 of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Bortz Health Care in Traverse City.
Carrie was born on June 4, 1919 in Mancelona, MI to the late Theodore and Caroline (Marsh) Spoor. She married Robert M. Parker on June 26, 1940. Together they lovingly raised two wonderful children.
Carrie worked for many years at Montgomery Ward and retired from secretarial work in 1978. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, euchre and cribbage. Most importantly Carrie loved her family and spending time with them.
Surviving Carrie are her children, Cheryl (Jim) Wilson of Kingsley, Charles "Butch" (Heike) Parker of Fountain, CO; three grandchildren; Brandon Parker of Colorado, Garrett (Tammy) Parker of North Carolina and Amy (Chad) Raschi of Kingsley and four great grandchildren; Dylyn, Erin, Abigail and Hannah.
Carrie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert and seven brothers; Clyde, George, Fred, Floyd, Frank, Voris and Claude Spoor and three sisters; Genevieve "Veva" Meyers, Amy Davis and Mae Hiatt.
Visitation for Carrie will take place on Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
A funeral service honoring Carrie will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the funeral home. Pastor David Gable will officiate. Burial will follow in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Visiting on Saturday will be at 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
