Carrol Lynn Scherrer, 66, lost her brave fight with pancreatic cancer on December 1, 2014.
Carrol was born in Highland Park, Michigan on January 16, 1948. She spent the majority of her career working in commercial real estate development, retiring from Ford Motor Land Development in 1999.
Carrol married her beloved husband, Dave, in 1981. They enjoyed almost 33 years together in a true partnership that was based on love, laughter, hard work and fun.
Her passion in life was her family and the many friends she considered her family. She was the family center that drew everyone together to create a beautiful, loving, blended family that was the pride of her life and will be her lasting legacy.
Carrol was an animal lover, who, throughout her life, enjoyed breeding and training dogs and most recently running agility trials with her cherished Rottweiler, Lily. Carrol loved retirement and all that went with it. She savored the memory of travels with her husband, children and grandchildren, and enjoyed regular rounds of golf in the warm fellowship of her friends.
During her 28 month battle, Carrol was a warrior that confronted her disease head on with strength, courage and grace – living life to the fullest every day. She was surrounded by many family and friends at the end of her life, and her family is grateful for the exceptional care she received at Munson's Hospice House.
Carrol is survived by her husband, Dave, four children: Rhonda McCullough (Ray); Rochelle Rothwell (Mark Schaaf); Julie Merrick (Dave); and Brian Scherrer. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kameron Reneker, Laurel Schaaf, Alex Rothwell, Brooke Schaaf, Avery Rothwell, Matthew Merrick and Jacob Merrick. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy DiLaura; a sister, Ricky Sychta (Vince); and a brother, Richard DiLaura. She was preceded in death by her father, Leo DiLaura.
A memorial service will be held at Oakhurst Golf and Country Club at 7000 Oakhurst Lane, Clarkston Mi on December 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. with a luncheon immediately following. Information can be found at
