Cathee Ann Burden

Cathee A. Burden, 67 of Traverse City, passed peacefully at home on Friday, February 21, 2014, after a long struggle with cancer.

Cathee was born on April 2, 1946 in Traverse City to the late John A. and Elizabeth (Fick) Godfrey. She married Lewis E. Burden on July 18, 1964 at St. Francis Church. Together they raised three children.

Cathee's loves were her garden and her family, which included the very extended family of all the children who knew her through her many years with Traverse City Area Public schools and Water's Edge Gymnastics, most of whom knew her as "Gramma."

Surviving Cathee is her husband Lewis; her children and their families, Lewis Jr. & Dyann Burden, Deborah & David Green, Larry & Shelly Sissen, Becky Burden-Cuddeback, all of Traverse City; grandchildren, Adam, Christopher, Elijah, Liliya, Victoria, Jenna, Briar, Asher, Lainy, Jacob & Naina. She is also survived by her sisters, Janice Waring, Ardath Cunnigham, Susan Godfrey, and the many many children who over the years considered her "Mom" or "Gramma."

Cathee is preceded by her infant daughter, her Aunt, Katherine (Fick) Thompson and her parents.

A memorial service will be held for Cathee at 11am, Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with a funeral lunch to follow at the Heritage center in the old library. Visitation will be the preceding Wednesday afternoon from 4pm until 7pm at the funeral home.
