Catherine Mary Elliott

May 13, 1942 — December 21, 2022

Catherine M. Elliott, 80, of Traverse City, was called home and wrapped in the arms of the lord on December 21, 2022.

Cathy was born on May 13, 1942 to the late Howard and Lena (Kissane) Husted in St. Johns, Michigan. Cathy spent some of her life growing up in this area before reestablishing herself in Traverse City.

Cathy was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, and especially great grandmother to her best little buddy in the world, Kiera. They shared many very special moments together. She enjoyed talking on the phone to family and friends with a sincere interest in how they were doing. She was into the regular crossword puzzles, typically found in the newspaper that she read almost daily cover to cover. She really enjoyed crocheting in her younger days and blessed all her grandchildren with an afghan. She also just enjoyed spending time and being with family in general, especially her grandchildren. She loved having company around and reminiscing about the good Ole days. She often talked about her horse she had when she was little, and what it was like to grow up on the farm.

In her younger years, she enjoyed the family camping trips and the time spent together.

She will always be remembered for her smile, her tough stubborn attitude at times, and her contagious laugh.

Surviving her are her sisters; Alberta Mead, Arlene May (Bob), Grace Griffiths. Her children; Christopher Swainston (Debbie), Kellen Swainston, Lori Barnes, and Scott Barnes (Jenny). She is also survived by her grandchildren - Elizabeth Bembeneck, Jeffrey Bembeneck, Ashley Bembeneck, Meredith Barnes, Keith Swainston, Justin Swainston, and great granddaughter, Kiera Bembeneck, Avery Festa, Scarlett Thorpe and Emma Thorpe.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ronald Elliott, and Ronald Elliott Jr.
