Cathleen "Cathy" Marie Buchanan, 53, of Traverse City, MI, passed away peacefully at her home on August 28th, 2014. Cathy was born in Flint, MI, on February 28th, 1961. Here parents are the late Gar and Yvonne (DuBois) Mitchell.

Cathy graduated from Kearsely High School in 1979. She met Steve Buchanan in Alpena, and they were married on August 25th, 1994. They just celebrated their 20th Wedding Anniversary.

Cathy work in various occupations, one of which her and Steve owned a party store called Kettle N Keg in Higgins Lake, MI. Her claim to fame was the bakery at the store. People drove from miles around to buy her mouth watering baked goods.

After the birth of their two youngest children, Kileigh and Tyler, she stayed at home to be a wife and mother. Cathy was one of the most caring and compassionate people you could meet. Her love for her children was amazing. She was so very proud of everyone of them.

Cathy is survived by her husband Steve; daughters, Kacey Dziesinski; Jaimee Dziesinski; Kileigh Buchanan; son, Tyler Buchanan; grandson, Austin Dziesinski; mother-in-law, JoAnn Buchanan; stepfather Barry Braun; stepmother, Laurel Braun; brothers Chris, Jeff, Mike Mitchell; sister, Julie Mitchell; brothers, Jim and Jerry Braun.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5th, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday August 6th, 2014 at the funeral home.
