TRAVERSE CITY – Cathy L. Feiger, age 48, of Lake Ann, passed away November 28, 2017 after a short battle with cancer, at the Hospice House in the loving care of her family.
Cathy was born to Bud and Kay (Glover) Hency on September 3, 1969 in Kingsley, MI. Cathy is the youngest of her three siblings.
Cathy's family remained in Kingsley, where Cathy graduated from Kingsley High School and following graduation she enrolled at NMC where she received her associates degree in Liberal Arts.
Cathy has been a proud team member at Hagerty Insurance since 1999. She was an insurance underwriter with the company and was highly respected amongst everyone at Hagerty. Cathy was loved by her entire work family and will be missed greatly.
Cathy met her husband Fred through mutual friends in 1996 and the two were married in 2000. Cathy and Fred have a beautiful daughter, Anna Feiger who was born in 2002.
Cathy was an avid sailor, who enjoyed spending weekends on the water with her family on their sailboat "Black Magic". The three sailed to Mackinac Island in August of 2015, on that same trip they sailed to Beaver Island and also under the Mackinac Bridge. Together as a family, they accomplished several bucket list items. Cathy also enjoyed trips to the Upper Peninsula to the family's cabin, as well as hiking pictured rocks and other scenic areas. Cathy also had a knack for crafting and photography. She enjoyed gardening and birdwatching, and she enjoyed running, ever since her days on the Kingsley cross country team. She loved participating in 5k and 10k races around the area.
She is survived by her loving husband, Fred, her daughter, Anna, and her sister, Carol (Hency) Reamer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father, Alva (Bud) Hency, and mother, Kathryn (Kay) Hency, brother, Thomas Hency, and sister, Shannon Hency.
A visitation for Cathy will take place at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. A celebration of Cathy's life will take place at Central United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 am with a visitation one hour prior. Pastor Chris Lane will officiate.
