Jack Covey

Traverse City - Cecil "Jack" Covey Jr. 96 of Traverse City passed away December 12, 2013 at Bortz Health Care.

Jack was born on February 3, 1917 in South Haven, MI to the late Cecil J. and Mouise M. (Schnell) Covey Sr.

Jack honorably served in the United States Navy during WWII.

On August 10, 1940 Jack married the former Evelyn J. Stevens who survives.

Following his time in the service Jack began working for the Kalamazoo Mill Supply Company. After thirty years with the company, Jack retired as Vice President in 1971. He then began working at Fochtman Motor Company and later retired in 1982.

In his spare time, Jack enjoyed square dancing with his soul mate Evelyn. He also liked to garden and play the clarinet and saxaphone, fly airplanes and just loved life to the fullest but always abiding by, "do unto others as you would want done to you."

Jack was a member of the Traverse City Kiwanis, a board member of the Trustees of the Traverse City Community Hosptial, and the Traverse City Elks.

Jack is survived by his wife Evelyn, and sister Virginia Drobny. Evelyn would like to give special thanks to her neighbor Jack Lyon and her nieces and nephews for all of the love, support and care for Jack.

A memorial service will be held at the Central United Methodist Church Sunday December 15, 2013 at 3:00PM in the chapel.

Jack will be interred at the Garden of Remembrance at the First Congregational Church.

Memorial contributions in memory of Jack may be directed to Central United Methodist Church or the Kiwanis Golden K.
