Cecile Wiegand, 66 of Traverse City, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 in St. Louis Missouri.
Cecile was born on July 25, 1947 in Traverse City to Donald and Helen (Hughart) Pratt. She married Bruce R. Wiegand on September 13, 1969 in the Martha Mary Chapel in Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan. Together they lovingly raised two beautiful daughters.
She attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, was an honors graduate of Michigan State University and later, a mortgage loan officer and branch manager at Provident Federal Savings & Loan in Peoria, Illinois and Citizens Savings & Loan in Painesville Ohio. Her husband Bruce's career with Caterpillar Inc. led them to live in Peoria, Painesville, Geneva Switzerland and Kobe Japan.
She enjoyed travel, gardening, sewing, church work, genealogy and decorating arts. She and her husband remodeled several homes and helped rebuild their retirement home on West Grand Traverse Bay.
Cecile was a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, being related to several Mayflower passengers. She was active in the Japan America Women of the Kansai, a community and service organization In Kobe.
A lifelong Christian Scientist, she belonged to the churches where they lived and was currently a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Traverse City.
Surviving Cecile is her husband Bruce, daughters, Catherine Wiegand, Alison (Chad) Reid, brothers, Kenneth Pratt, Bruce Pratt, her parents Donald and Helen Pratt, and many other loving family members and friends.
A celebration of Cecile's life will take on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home at 11am. Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Traverse City.
