Cecilia Helen Ford

Cecilia Helen "Teach" Ford passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on July
31, 2015.
Born January 19, 1933 in Flint, Michigan to George and Helen Teachout, "Teach" was the young
sister of brothers Robert and Gerald Teachout. After graduating from Pontiac Central High
School, "Teach" enlisted in the United Stares Marine Corps, served for two years and was
discharged honorably in 1953.
On December 24, 1953, she married Oscar Ford, Jr., and spent the next 61 years raising her
family, working for the Glen Lake school district, volunteering for things and just making every
place she lived so much better.
She is survived by her husband and three sons, David Ford of Empire, Thomas (Chris) Ford of
Traverse City and Rob ( Marcy) Ford of Elk Rapids. Teach had four grandchildren, Erin Ford,
Steve (Ashley) Ford, Shannah (Chad) Vergote and Stu Ford.
Anyone that knew Teach knew her other loves included her collie, Baxter, and of course, her
dedication to and love of the beautiful little town of Empire.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and her daughter Deborah (Carl)
Brewer.
Memorials in honor of Teach can be sent to the American Cancer Society and in lieu of a
memorial ceremony, the Ford family would like you to do something to make your world a better
place.
