Charlene Kay Galla

Charlene Kay Galla, 80, of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away on September 28, 2025. She now rests in the arms of her Lord and Savior.

Charlene was born on March 11, 1945. She was adopted by Henry and Florence (Bisard) Kuhn in Newago County and moved to Kingsley from Grant in 1953. She graduated from Kingsley High School.

On July 9, 1966, Charlene married her best friend and soulmate, Leonard Galla; the couple made their home in Traverse City, where they raised their family. Charlene devoted many years to the Traverse City public school system before retiring. In her later years she volunteered with Catholic services and remained a faithful, active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Charlene treasured time with family, enjoyed polka music, and regular trips to the casino. She was an avid euchre player at Eagles #383 and the Senior Center. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, and friend, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children Dean (Brenda) Galla, Leonard Galla, Tara (Scott) Hakes, and Doug (Danielle) Galla; sisters‑in‑law Helen Galla, Pauline Galla, and Theresa Kulanda; ten grandchildren; four great‑grandchildren; and many dear friends and members of the extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her parents, Henry and Florence Kuhn; her sister, Patricia Coats; and brothers‑in‑law Edward Galla, Raymond Galla, and Fred Kulanda.

A private viewing for immediate family will be held at Reynolds-Jonkhoff in Traverse City. The graveside burial will be private; the date will be announced. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 409 W. 14th Street, Traverse City, MI 49684.
