TRAVERSE CITY – Charlene S. Gleason, age 74, of Traverse City, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at Munson Medical Center in the loving care of her daughter. Charlene was born on August 10, 1945 to Larry and Margery (George) Lappo in Traverse City.
Throughout the Traverse City area, Charlene worked as a waitress, as the Boons Street Carwash attendant, and as a cashier at Butternut Bread and Toms East Bay. She volunteered and contributed at the local VFW – Paralyzed Veterans, Feed the Children, Shriners, Goodwill, and the Salvation Army. As a young adult, Charlene loved karate and biking. As she grew older, she enjoyed spending her time listening to Elvis Presley and working on art projects.
Charlene is survived by her daughter, Natalie Ewing, grandchildren; Jena (Chris) Posey, Michael Lloyd, Justine (Ross) Thaxton, Jacqueline Ewing, Katie (John) Zenner, siblings; Patricia Jackson and Bobbie Whaley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Michael Lloyd, son Michael Lloyd II, and siblings, Donald Lappo, Doty Willis and Nancy Shay.

Charlene will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery where a private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
