Obituary

Charles Robert Wright, 89, of Interlochen passed away on April 22, 2016 at his daughter's residence surrounded by family.
Charles was born in his beloved city of Detroit, on July 16, 1926. After going to school, Charles proudly served his country during WWII with the United States Navy. Upon being honorably discharged from the Navy, Charles returned to Detroit and began what would be a 35 year career with Michigan Consolidated Gas Company. Taking Charles into his retirement, he would notably say "I've walked every inch of that city".
After retiring from the gas company as a meter reader, not only did he enjoy spending time with his two children, he also enjoyed his time with his four grandchildren. In his retirement years, he continued being active and worked many parties and events at the Fox Hills Country Club.
Finally in 2000, he relocated to Interlochen with his wife Gerry. While thoroughly enjoying the area and the beauty that it encompassed, he and Gerry also spent many hours volunteering for the Interlochen Arts Academy. Arbor Day was one of Charles favorite times to head to the Interlochen Public Library where he would selflessly volunteer his time to read stories to the children.
Charles will always be remembered for his hardworking ways and his quiet demeanor, a contagious sense of humor and zest for life. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends as well as his pet cat.
Charles is survived by children Noranne (Eugene) Morin and Timothy Wright, his four grandchildren Maegan (Morin) Halverson, Rebecca Morin, Michael Wright and Angela Wright, niece Karen (White) Krueger as well as many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine Frances Wright, brother; Jim Wright and sisters; Irene Speigelman, Joanne Callahan, Flonie White and Marcella Kauflin, niece, Pamela Freese and nephew Mark White.
A time to celebrate his life will take place at a later date. Chuck requested that in lieu of flowers you may consider a more lasting memorial by contributing to ASPCA, PO Box 96929 Washington, DC 20090-6929 www.aspca.org or Cherryland Humane Society, 1750 Ahlberg Road Traverse City, MI 49686 cherrylandhumane.org in Charles name to aid in the protection of animals.
