Charlie Littlefield

August 3, 1933 — August 17, 2024

Charles "Charlie" Augustus Littlefield, age 91, of Suttons Bay, formerly of Bronson, Michigan, passed away on August 17, 2024.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the First Congregational Church.

Charlie was born on August 3, 1933, in Sturgis, Michigan, to the late Charles Walter and Lorraine (Visel) Littlefield. He had four siblings: his late sister Patricia Littlefield, and surviving siblings Annie Littlefield, Tom Littlefield, and Mike Littlefield.

Celebrating 55 years of marriage, Charlie is survived by his wife Ann, children Charles "Cal" Littlefield and Amy Littlefield-Bousamra, daughter-in-law Marcela Rocha Littlefield, son-in-law Court Bousamra, and grandchildren Lucia Littlefield, Marina Littlefield, and Sadie Bousamra.

In his youth, Charlie earned the rank of Eagle Scout, loved football, and honed his handyman skills on his grandparents' farm.

In the late 1950s, Charlie served as a Navy dental technician, graduated from Michigan State University with a business degree, and was a Kappa Sigma member and devoted Spartans fan.

By 1966, he had moved to Traverse City, Michigan, where he embraced skiing, sailboat racing, and married Ann Kristin Olson on August 17, 1968. They raised their children on Old Mission Peninsula.

In 1977, Charlie became commodore of the Grand Traverse Yacht Club. He served on the National Cherry Festival board and played a major role in conceptualizing the Heritage Parade, which became a cherished tradition for many years.

For over 25 years, Charlie owned and operated Bay Marketing Company, specializing in selling industrial supplies. Additionally, he was an active member of the Elks Club and, with his wife Ann, belonged to the First Congregational Church. Charlie enjoyed tennis, golf, enjoyed yardwork and spending time with family.

He was a devoted husband and father whose deep love for his family was evident to all. He will be profoundly missed by his loved ones and friends.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be directed to FLOW or the First Congregational Church.
