Charlotte A. Jaratz. 94 of Traverse City passed away March 1, 2023 at Munson Hospice House.
Charlotte was born on August 28, 1928 in Manistee to the late Cyril C. and Agnes A. (Arkin) Bryck.
Charlotte was born and raised in Manistee. She had many fun stories about growing up along Lake Michigan and enjoying bon fires and parties on the beach. She also worked as a teen at the Portage Point Inn where she stayed for summers, working in the housekeeping department. After she graduated from High School, she got married and eventually ended up in Traverse City, where she raised her family.
Charlotte worked for the Traverse City school system for many years and retired in 1995. In her free time, she loved to golf, bowl, garden, play cards and spend time at the beach, especially with her grandsons when they were young. She loved spending time with her siblings and cousins. When they got together, there was always a competitive game of cards. It didn't take long when all of the family were together, for one of them to break out in song, and the rest of them to join in and harmonize. The singing always went well into the night. She was also a faithful volunteer at the Old Town Playhouse and she volunteered every year on election day. Charlotte was raised Catholic and studied her bible daily and devotedly prayed the Rosary.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law Louis and Lavern Bryck, and her brother-in-law Fred LaPorte
Charlotte is survived by her daughter Stephanie, son Chris; grandsons Joshua and Jeremiah; sister Nancy LaPorte; brother Richard (Dee) Bryck and many nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 10 at 3 pm with visitation beginning one hour prior at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home
Interment will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to the Old Town Playhouse
Special thanks to all her friends, family and neighbors for their love and care, especially over the last few years
