Charlotte Catherine Wright, 85,went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Dec. 9, 2013 from her home in Acme.
Charlotte was born on Wednesday, June 27, 1928 to the late John and Bertha (Hawkins) Whiteford in Acme. She married Richard Jerome Wright on Sunday, June 1, 1947 in Traverse City and he preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 1987.
A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, Charlotte was well known for and enjoyed making pies. She enjoyed crocheting, taking walks, snowmobiling and two tracking, yet enjoyed reading, especially reading her Bible and spending quiet time there. For many years Charlotte taught children's Sunday School and she is currently a member of Zion Baptist Church. Charlotte also worked on elections for Acme Township for many years.
Charlotte is survived by her children, Todd Wright of Acme, Norman (Patricia) Wright of Traverse City, Brenda Wright of Acme and Shana Hawkins of Traverse City. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Neil Ferguson, Joshua and Jeffrey Hawkins, Katie and Ryan Hawkins and her great grandchildren, Haylie and Christina Chambers and Nathan Underwood. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Edwin, William, Leonard and Charles Whiteford and her sisters LaDore Ray-Kube and Joyce Lardie.
Visitation for Charlotte will take place today, Wednesday, Dec. 11 from 2- 4 and 6-8 pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 at Zion Baptist Church, 6563 E. Harry's Road Traverse City, with Pastor William Smith officiating. Burial will be in Acme Township Cemetery in the spring.
Charlotte has asked the memorial contributions in her memory be directed to Zion Baptist Church.
