Charnell Lenore Strang, 90 of Traverse City, Michigan was called home to Christ on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at her home, surrounded by family. Charnell was born on February 9, 1935 in Tampa, Florida to the late Charles and Nell (Martin) Dick.
Charnell was an only child and grew up enjoying her friends and the Florida sun. She graduated from Plant High School and attended the University of Tampa.
She married the love of her life William Kenneth Strang II (Ken) on June 9, 1956. They enjoyed wonderful friends, the Ciaos, the Vespas, the Tornillos and the Crivellos, who were like family.
She devoted her life to her family, her husband Ken and her two children Kenny and Kimberly, supporting them every step of the way, with the highest level of love and enthusiasm. She, Ken and their son Kenny moved from Florida to California when she was 23. In California, her daughter Kimberly was born, and Charnell continued to fulfill her calling of wife and mother with complete devotion.
She leaves behind her loving children, Kenny Strang and Kimberly Whims, their loving spouses, Cindy Strang and Robert Whims, respectively, and 14 grandchildren. Shiloh (Silliman), Bethany, Jordan, Eden, Judah, Benjamin and Havilah Strang. Mary Caroline, Patrick, William, ChristiAnn, David, Jonathan and Danny Whims.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years William Kenneth Strang II. She also became a first time great-grandmother a couple weeks prior to her passing, and joins her great-granddaughter Talitha Silliman in heaven, who predeceased her at birth. She was also preceded in death by her parents Charles and Nell Dick of Tampa, Florida.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff of French Manor South and for their care and compassion for Charnell.
A memorial service honoring Charnell will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, August 08, 2025, at Saint Francis Catholic Church, Traverse City Michigan. Rev. Lingaur officiating. Her burial will follow at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial donation to Right to Life of Michigan or Thrive Medical Clinic of Traverse City.
