"Grief, I've learned, is really just love. It's all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go."

Cheryl Chaney, 58, of Traverse City passed away Monday, December 25, 2017 at home after a long illness.
Cheryl was born on December 19, 1959 to Gerald and Beryle (Mattson) Chaney in Grand Rapids, MI.
Cheryl will be remembered for her compassion and selfless acts of kindness. She loved her family more than anything and her happiest times were spent together with them. Cheryl loved to cook, and would always make enough to feed an army. She enjoyed the outdoors, tubing down the river, boating, going to the drive-in, walks, shopping (she could always spot a deal), reading, especially while getting some sun. she loved all of our local festivals, and instilled the joy into her children and grandchildren. She had a passion for collecting, Snow Babies, dolls, and ornaments. Christmas was her favorite holiday, so we find comfort in knowing that she left us on a day she so adored.
She is survived by the love of her life Steve Kroupa; daughters Arianna Chaney, Crystal Crouch, Cheleana (Sam) Rowan and Kali-Nicole Chaney; grandchildren Angelyn Wazny, Domonic Crouch, Ryker Graham, Logan Crouch, Jackson Crouch and Colton Crouch.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother Terry Chaney.
Per Cheryl's wishes cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held at a later date.
