Traverse City-Christina C. Whipp, 90, a long time resident of Traverse City, died Friday morning, June 21, 2013, at Grand Traverse Pavilions, in the presence of her loving family.
Born May 5, 1923, in Hannah, she was one of six children born to the late Matthew and Laura Anna (Bushamp) Fasel. In 1945, at the First Christian Church in Traverse City she married Robert L. Whipp, who preceded her in death on January 29, 2001.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Burke-Flexo Company and Jiffy Cover Company.
As her hobbies she enjoyed, bowling, sewing, playing bingo, working puzzles. and frequent trips to the casino. She loved family cook outs where she would be surrounded in love by members of her family. Christina cherished and loved them all.
Christina will be fondly remember as a very giving person, who always put others before herself.
Christina is survived by her children, Richard Whipp, of Grawn, Sandra Kay Whipp, of Traverse City, Bonnie (Delton) Hendges, of Traverse City, Michael (Mary) Whipp, of Traverse City, Tina Brown , of Mercer, PA, and Tammy (Terry) Rickerd, of Traverse City; brother, John (Anita "Cookie") Fasel of Traverse City; grandchildren, Shane Whipp, Chad Whipp, Timothy Dalzell, Sarah Dalzell, Ricky Hendges, Franky Hendges, Marcy Hendges, Betty Jo Whipp, Joshua Brown, Ashley Rickerd and Alan Rickerd; and several great grandchildren and great great granchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Justin Rickerd and Jimi Allen Whipp along with siblings, Theresa Berry, Evelyn King, Lawrence Fasel and Francis Fasel.
Friends may call at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., where the Whipp family will receive friends.
Funeral Services will be held at fhe funeral home on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. with Deacon Hoenscheid officiating.
In remembrance of Christina, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association. Envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
