Christine "Chris" C. Mocere, 91, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, March 28, 2020 at Bay Ridge Assisted Living in Traverse City, MI.
Chris was born on March 4, 1929 in Gaylord, MI to the late James and Helen (Rutkowski) Holewinski. She graduated from St Mary's High School and continued on to Mercy College of Detroit. After her graduation she then worked in the laboratory at Little Traverse Hospital in Petoskey, MI. At the hospital is where she met her future husband as he was doing sales calls to the pharmacy. She married the late Paul J. Mocere on July 24, 1954 in Gaylord, MI and shared 54 wonderful years together.
Together they lovingly raised four wonderful children. Surviving Chris are her three children; a son Mark of Traverse City; two daughters Lisa M. Mocere of N. Bay Village, Fla., and Michele Mocere of St. Clair Shores.
Also surviving are her two grandchildren Alisha Mocere of Traverse City and Kristin (Michael) Thompson of Ypsilanti and two great-grandchildren Logan and Aubrey. She is also survived by her sisters Bernadine (Sylvester) Grobbel and Marianne Bellanca.
Chris enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, skiing, wandering thru antique shops and refinishing furniture. Besides playing golf with her husband and in a ladies league they also enjoyed cruising for many years. Lastly, she enjoyed gardening (flowers, fruits, veggies) in her backyard and always made sure the family celebrated the holidays with all the traditions. She was known as Mom, Mother, Grandma and Nani enjoyed a full life and we will miss her.
Her family would like to thank everyone at Bay Ridge and Hospice of Michigan for taking such good care of Chris these last few years.
Chris is preceded in death by her husband Paul and son Paul Christopher.
