TRAVERSE CITY — Christopher Michael Spiers, 33, of Traverse City, died unexpectedly Jan. 31, 2011.
Chris was born on July 7, 1977, in Dearborn, to Mark and Dorinda Spiers. After graduating from Traverse City Central High School in 1996, Chris joined the United States Army in 1999. He served in Iraq until 2003, and was honorably discharged in 2004.
Chris currently was an employee of Sara Lee, and previously had worked at the Lear Corp.
He is survived by his parents Mark and Dorinda; brother Tim; niece and nephews, Michael, Francis, and Zach; grandfather, Conley Addington; grandfather, Leslie Spiers; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandmother, Marian Addington; grandmother, Margaret Spiers; and great-grandmother, Jeanette Spiers.
A memorial service honoring Chris will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Cherryland VFW Post #2780. Chris will be interred at Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date.
