Clara Lucille Morrissey, 96, of Traverse City and formerly of Findlay, OH, died Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Clara was born in Findlay, OH on Friday, October 22, 1920, the daughter of Frank and Clara (Horner) Showman. She graduated from Van Buren High School and was a past member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Findlay. On Saturday, November 22, 1941, she married Walter Francis Morrissey at Notre Dame Cathedral in South Bend, IN.
Clara enjoyed playing cards and board games, but especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends. She also enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially Notre Dame games.
She is survived by her children, Theresa (Leonard) Brandt of Traverse City, James (Meg) Morrissey of Pine Island, FL , Deborah (Jon) New of Collinsville, OK, and son-in-law Tom Sciortino of Findlay, OH. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Michael (Diane) Brandt, Beverly (Roger) Leask, Pamela Miller, Mark (Kim) Brandt, Amy (Jeff Alexander) Brandt, Sean (Michelle) Morrissey, Meghan (Nick) Janiga, Lori and Jennifer Sciortino as well as 11 great grandchildren. Clara was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Mary Yvonne Sciortino and siblings Pauline Showman, Maxine Milroy, Edward, Frank, William, Annis and James Showman.
Family services will take place at a later date. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in North Baltimore, OH.
The family has asked that memorial contributions in Clara's name be directed to a charity of one's own choosing.
