Claris Sieffert Cozart

Claris passed away peacefully on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Munson Hospice House surrounded by her family. She was born on February 2, 1926, daughter of the late Truman and Doris (Schermerhorn) Wagner, a lifelong resident of the Traverse City area. She retired from the Traverse City State Hospital.

Surviving are her daughters; Bonnie (Nick) Harris and Cathy (Paul) Johnson, five grandchildren; Tony Harris, Trace Harris, Jerry Harris, Dawn (Brian) Grubb and Michelle (Dennis) Perry, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Karen (Russ Owens) Grant, a sister-in-law, Donna Wagner and nieces, nephews and family. Also surviving are step-daughters; Diane (John) Shumsky, Nancy (Bob) Burn, Kandie Cozart, son-in-law Jim Fellows, seven step-grandchildren; Scott, Molly, Steven, Paul, Krista, Eric and Rodney, as well as four step-great-grandchildren and many family members and friends.

Claris was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Clifford H. Sieffert in 1979, Evart K. Cozart in 1997, a son Gerald C. Sieffert in 1968, a brother, Harley Wagner in 2014, a step-son, Michael Cozart in 1985 and step-daughter, Janice Fellows in 2013.

A funeral service honoring Claris will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visiting one hour prior, on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, Michigan 49684. Pastor Sean Barton will officiate. Interment will follow at Monroe Center Cemetery.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial donation to the American Veteran's Auxiliary, where Claris was an active member in the past or the Grawn United Methodist Church.
