Connie Lea Kalonich

Connie Lea Kalonich, age 67, of Grayling, Michigan (formerly of Gibraltar, Michigan) passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, surrounded by her husband and kids. Connie was born on October 30, 1958 in Trenton, Michigan to Eugene and Elizabeth Dake.

Connie worked her way up to store director during her 37 years with Spartan. She was a hard and dedicated worker, and she was very proud of all the accomplishments she had made with the company. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her grandkids, watching them play sports or any other events they were partaking in, or even just them playing around in the yard together as a unit. She loved Christmas and Easter when all the kids would get together and she got to watch the joy on their faces. Connie loved being outdoors, whether that be hiking, camping, sitting on the porch in her rocking chair, or going for walks.

Connie is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Martin Kalonich; children, Greg (Alyssa) Kalonich and Melissa (Justin) Root; grandkids; Gavyn, Amiyah, Aubrey, Kayai, Damarion, Leo, Lilah; great grandchild, Declan and one on the way; siblings; Kenny (Aileen) Dake, Cindy (Paul) Lehr, Cathy (Pat) Valentine, Diane (Kenny) Kollar and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Eugene Dake, mother-in-law, Verdean Kalonich, and grandson. Kadynn.
