TRAVERSE CITY – Craig Petersen, 64, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Tendercare of Traverse City. Craig was born on April 5, 1952 in Traverse City to the late Harry and Ada (Harr) Petersen. Craig graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1971. After high school Craig began working for Chef Pierre, he continued working and retired from Sara Lee after 41 years services. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends at deer camp in Newberry. Craig was a great bowler; bowling many 300 games over the years, as well as coaching the St. Francis High School bowling team. He was an avid golfer; he shot a hole-in-one on #3 at his favorite course in Newberry. Craig was a great guy who would always lend a hand, he loved talking to people and making new friends, above all spending time with his family was his greatest joy.
Craig is survived by a son and two daughters; Craig (Lori Rogers) Petersen, Ashley (Cooper Thoreson) Petersen and Diane (Jeremy Vankersen) Alford, eight grandchildren; Blake, Brittany, Trevor, Mark, Matthew, Rachel, Oran and Brionna. His former wife, Debra Petersen, they remained close friends. Also surviving are three brothers; Harry Petersen, Jack (Debbie) Petersen and Pete (Diane) Petersen as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service honoring Craig will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the Reynold-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, 49864. Pastor Tim Manzer will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with Craig's family that morning starting at 10:00 a.m.
