Curt Allen Abrahamson took his last train ride to see his Heavenly Father and Grandparents on Tuesday, June 2, 2015. Curt is the son of Ross and Emily (Feltman) Abrahamson. Curt had been battling stomach cancer for the last 2 years.
Curt was born at the old Osteopathic Hospital in Traverse City on June 27, 1977. He started school at Birch St. Elementary School in Kalkaska and graduated from Clear Creek High School in League City, TX, in 1997. Curt took several electrical classes at Career Tech in Traverse City.
His father was in the oil field so the family lived in many states WV, PA, TX besides MI. Every transfer was a new experience for the family. Curt was able to see many interesting places in the U.S. and has many friends in those states.
Curt worked at the Traverse City Meijer store for 14 years. During those years he had many friends. He really liked helping the Bay Ridge ladies on their weekly visits to Meijer. We would like to thank the Meijer family in Traverse City for all they have done for Curt especially in the last few months. Thank you for all the prayers, cards, encouragement, hugs and being there for us.
Curt's hobbies include fishing, model trains and watching trains. Curt has caught many big fish. In Texas he caught 2 catfish over 40 pounds each and then here in northern MI he caught a Muskie. He had a different technique that worked. Curt would bait his hook, let it go to the bottom of the lake, bring it up a foot and then go to sleep in his boat chair and wait for the fish hit. Those who saw this could not believe it, but it worked for Curt. His love for trains started out when he was a little boy and it had become his hobby. Curt had a layout for HO and N scale trains. I took up his time and he enjoyed showing it off.
Curt is a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, National Rifle Association, Durran Union Train Station and Texas Lions Camp.
He is survived by his parents, Ross and Emily Abrahamson. His aunts and uncles, Kay and Jim Jones, Keith and Karen Abrahamson, Lois Feltman, Mary Ann Barnaby, Terry and Cinnamon Feltman. A very special lady (adopted grandmother) Reta Hutchinson, two great aunts; Betty Millikin and Carol Higby, as well as many cousins that he spent a lot of time with.
He was preceded by his grandparents, Burr and Harriet Abrahamson, Giles and Donna Feltman, Uncle Jerry Feltman and Aunt Lyn Marie Feltman.
His parents would like to thank Munson Hospital and Curt's Doctors for all the great care Curt had during the last 2 years. We could not have made it through all of this without Wendy, our special friend and Munson Hospice RN. Thank you also to Christ the King members for all their prayers and hugs as well as the Meijer's Team Members for being a special part of Curt's life.
Don't be sad for the loss, be thankful for the time we had. We will miss his smiling face.
