Cynthia Reed Ansorge, 67, of Traverse City, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 at her home. Cyndi was born on October 26, 1953 in Garden City, Michigan to John and Berna Zimba. The fourth of ten children, Cyndi was instilled motherly instincts at a very young age. These instincts served her well as she became a mother to those far beyond her own four children. Young, old, and even those her same age would all receive the same nurturing and loving encouragement that only Cyndi could provide.
The Zimbas moved to Traverse City when Cyndi was a junior in high school. There she found her true love and partner for nearly 47 years, Richard. They were married on October 19, 1974 and enjoyed all of life's ups and downs together. Richard and Cyndi embodied a marriage like no other, eternally strong and compassionate; a shining example to their children, friends and family.
Cyndi always put the needs of others above her own. Selfless, almost to a fault, she elevated the lives of those around her and didn't know any other way to live her life. When she wasn't showering her grandchildren with affection and positively influencing others, she loved to spend her time sewing and embroidering. There was very little she couldn't do with cloth and thread. Bedtime was a suggestion when she had a project to complete and she would spend countless hours in her sewing room creating treasures. She learned the craft of baking from her mother and began passing those skills on to her grandchildren. While they are following in her footsteps, her legendary birthday cakes will be missed immensely. The people and the lives she impacted, influenced, and complimented will all continue to shine in the love and the light of Cyndi.
Cyndi was preceded in death by her parents, eldest brother John Zimba Jr, in-laws Raymond and Audrey Ansorge, brother-in-law Chris Ansorge, niece Nicolette McCool (Denman), nephew Jeremy Wheeler, and her loving sister Kathy Guernsey. Cyndi is survived by her devoted husband, son Matt (Abbi), daughter Trisha (Trevor Tkach), son Dusty (Leslie), son Adam (Gabby), 13 grandchildren, 5 sisters, 2 brothers, 5 sisters-in-law, 3 brothers-in-law, and too many friends and extended family to mention.
A memorial Mass honoring Cynthia will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 308 Cedar St., Traverse City, Michigan 49684. Rev. Fr. Anthony Citro will officiate.
