Daisy Evelyn Hunt, 87, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 in Statesville, NC. She was born on June 4, 1933 in Empire, Michigan to Richard and Hazel (Barber) Sullivan. She lived in Detroit and Mesick before moving to Traverse City in 1956. She married Douglas Hunt on June 14, 1958 at Immaculate Conception. They had one daughter, Sue. Daisy retired from WTCM in 1995 after working there for 39 years.
She greatly enjoyed spending time with friends and family, doing puzzles, cross words, reading, traveling and camping. She loved spending time with her granddaughters baking cookies and painting ceramics together. Daisy greatly enjoyed the fellowship she found at West Bay Covenant Church as well as the friendships she formed with her neighbors at the Village of Bay Ridge, where she lived from 2006 until 2018. In January of 2018 she moved with her daughter and son-in-law to North Carolina to be near her granddaughters and great-grandson.
Daisy will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sue (Bob) Westlake and their daughters Stephanie (Samuel) Detweiler and Kelli Westlake, as well as her two great-grandchildren, Elias and Elsie Detweiler, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas, her parents, her five sisters and one brother, and many nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Daisy and her family are being cared for by the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
