Dale Leroy Flaherty, 77, of Lake Ann, passed away on Wed. Dec. 3, 2014. Dale was born in Hanford, CA., on Feb. 2, 1937 to the late Robert William and Margorie (Berggren) Flaherty. He graduated from Vanderbilt University and received a Masters Degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
On August 3, 1963 he married the love of his life, Eleanor Light, in Dayton, OH., and the couple raised their four children together.
Upon a 31 year career in Environmental Engineering, they retired to Lake Ann, in 2000, where he became President of Council of the Village of Lake Ann, from 2007 to 2014. Dale was fondly referred to, by Ted Light, his father in-law, as always a "jolly fellow".
Dale is survived by his wife, Eleanor; his children, daughters, Kathryn (Jeff) Cirilis of Orlando, FL., Elizabeth (Brett) Krouskop, of Cincinnati, OH., sons, Peter (Dawn) Flaherty, of Nashville, TN., Andrew (Amy) Flaherty, Chicago, IL., sisters, Karen Basso, Fresno, CA.; brother, Bruce (Barbara) Flaherty, of Corcoran, CA., and 4 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.
He preceded in death by his parents and sister Nancy Wilcox.
In accordance with Dale's wishes cremation has taken place, with a celebration of life service to be held on Saturday, June 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Village of Lake Ann Township Hall.
