Traverse City - Dale A. Williams, 96, of Traverse City, passed away March 26, 2015, at Southridge Assisted Living.

Dale was born on his family farm, on July 31, 1918, in Traverse City, to Edgar Allan and Viola (Grody) Williams.

Dale honorably served in the United States Army in WWII. Following his return from the service, he worked at and later owned and operated Home Heating Company. Dale was a former Blair Township Supervisor.

Dale was always a farm boy at heart and loved being outdoors. He especially loved to be "up in the woods" at every opportunity trimming trees, hunting, and cutting firewood. He always looked forward to going to Big Boy. The staff became old friends, and he loved seeing Bonnie, Jamie, and two Debbie's. They always made him feel welcome and special. During his final years at Woodside and Southridge, he received warm and personal care. His family especially appreciates the special care and attention that Julie and the rest of the staff provided.

Dale is survived by his son, Roger (Vicki) Williams of Kingsley; and daughter, Carol Williams of Traverse City; brother, Williard (Lillian) Williams of Pigeon; grandchildren, Valerie (James) Walter, David (Julie) Williams, Marcia (Paul) Ellul, Heidi Williams, Stephanie (Josh) Wolf, Andrew (Cindy Hazel) Stiles, Jennifer (Larry) Sonnabend, 14 great-grandchildren, step-children, Alana Schultz, Elly Nicholson, David (Karrie) Ronthi, Mark (Lynne) Ronthi, Ronald (Nancy) Ronthi, Michael (Kim) Ronthi and numerous step-grandchildren.

Dale was preceded in death by his spouses, Dorothy Williams and Margaret Williams, brothers, Chester and Ashley, sisters, Dorothy and Isabel, granddaughter, Vonnie Williams and grandson, Matthew Baker.

Dale's life will be celebrated on Tuesday March 31, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Visitation for friends and family will also be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 30, 2015, from 4-7 p.m.

Graveside services will follow at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens, where Dale will receive full military honors from Cherryland VFW Honor Guard #2780.
