Danial Alfred Largent

April 9, 1955 — March 8, 2024

Danial Alfred Largent, 68, of Traverse City passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 at Munson Medical Center with his loving family at his side.

Dan was born on April 9, 1955 in Traverse City to the late James and Thelma (Steinebach) Largent. He graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1973. In high school, he excelled as a running back for the Trojans and was on the track team. Growing up on Spider Lake, Dan became an expert water skier and was an integral part of the Spider Lake Waterski Show. He was proud that he could still barefoot ski well into his 40's. He also loved to just float around the lake in his boat listening to music.

While dancing at Tanz Haus, he met the love of his life, Michele. They were married on October 2, 1983, and celebrated 40 years of life together filled with love and great memories. Together they raised two wonderful children Andrew and Amber.

Dan's post-graduation journey led him to NMC where he studied to be an accountant. It wasn't long before he realized his true passion was in the building trades where he became a talented mason. Embracing this calling, he established his own masonry business, Largent Masonry, leaving an indelible mark on the community. His skilled craftsmanship was evident in the cement work he did and the homes he built, including his own. One of his most notable projects was a field stone retaining wall at his parents' house which is still evident from the lake. Equally impressive were the split field stone fireplaces he crafted for not only his home but also his parent's. He was proud that everyone who visited were greeted by these works of art. He delighted in creating many concrete memories for friends and customers.

Whether playing ping-pong, pool, floating in his boat listening to music on Spider Lake, or golfing, Dan's spirit was vibrant. He was a longtime member of the Construction League at Elmbrook golf course. He loved to cheer on his favorite teams, the Detroit Tigers and Lions. His dog Charlie also brought great happiness to Dan. They loved to go for walks and just hang out together.

Dan will forever be remembered for his exceptional talents, unwavering generosity, kind and gentle spirit and his immense love for his family. He was so proud of his children and grandson, Grayson. His presence will be dearly missed, and his legacy of kindness and love will endure in the memories of those he touched.

Surviving Dan is his wife Michele, his children Andrew Largent of Traverse City, Amber (Brian) Knotts of Colorado, his grandson Grayson Knotts; his siblings Debra (Dale) Colaianni, Steven (Sharon) Largent, Cynthia (Mike) Green, his sister in law Renee (Paul) Willett, his beloved dog Charlie and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bernard "Ben" Largent.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will take place at The Filling Station on Saturday, May 11th from 12:30-4:00.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Safe Harbor. Kindly share thoughts and memories with his family at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com .
