TRAVERSE CITY — Daniel E. Byrd, 64, of Traverse City, died suddenly Monday morning, May 9, 2011, at his home. Daniel proudly served as a M.P. in the U.S. Army. Daniel grew up with a love for boating and waterskiing at the family cabin. He also enjoyed bowling, golf and woodworking. Most importantly, he had a great love for his family and friends. He was quiet in a crowd but would always show his unique sense of humor when it was least expected. He will be missed more than he will ever know.He is survived by his mother, Vera Byrd; children, Daniel E. Byrd II and Heather Prudhomme; grandchildren, Erik Byrd, Olivia Byrd, Adrian Ciugudean Jr. and Hailey Prudhomme; brothers, Ronald Byrd and Anthony Byrd Jr.; and sisters; Diane Byrd, Christina Byrd and Suzanne Conant.He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Byrd. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 14, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. Justin Grimm will officiate. Military honors will be offered under the auspices of the VFW Cherryland Post #2780.
